The first
worship service of the Friendship Christian Fellowship Church
was held on Sunday, September 16, 1990 at the Days Inn Hotel on
University Street in the city of Riverside, due to the fact that
there were no available spaces to have services in the city of
Moreno Valley where God had ordained the church to be.
The membership consisted of Pastor Art Wooten, Sis. Jacqueline
Wooten, and Jamia Wooten. There were also about 20 friends and
family members that made up that first service. However, there
were still only the Wooten family on the Church membership list.
After about six months the church moved to Edgemont Elementary
School, located in the city of Moreno Valley The church membership
consisted of 5 adults and 8 children.
Soon God blessed and the church moved once again. Services were
held at Box Springs Elementary School. During this time the church
begin to grow by leaps and bounds. Wednesday night Bible Study
was always held in the Pastor's home; however at this time the
Bible Study outgrew the home. We grew to approximately 75 active
members.
After about a year the church moved to a new location that enabled
us to purchase our own chairs, carpet, sound system, piano, drums,
and many other items that turned a warehouse into a beautiful
Sanctuary for God. The fruits were beginning to show from the
seeds of commitment and dedication which had been planted. Souls
began to get saved and the Lord added to the church greatly.
During one period of 60 days, the church accepted 90 souls into
new membership. We were truly blessed by God.
From such humble beginnings sprang a ministry which has made an
indelible spiritual mark on thousands of residents in the Inland
Empire area.
Once again on Easter Sunday morning, 1994; we moved again. Friendship
Christian Fellowship Church had outgrown the first building and
we marched from the old building to the new building, which is
our present location.
In order to serve the members that worked on Sundays, God led
Pastor Wooten to add an 8:00 AM Hour Of Power Worship Service.
From the inception of this service, it has been a blessing to
many and has grown from a handful to over 200 members and is still
growing.
We are blessed to have a religious Bookstore that provides the
latest enriching spiritual books, tapes, videos and Christian
paraphernalia, We also have a Bible Institute for those in the
congregation and the community as well that would like to enrich
their spiritual knowledge pertaining to the Word of God.
1998 brought us into a year of transportation. We purchased our
first church van which enabled those in need of transportation
to have a way to and from church as well as to other outings.
As our church grew, the need for transportation increased. A passenger
bus was purchased in 1999 and was used for special outings as
well as to bring children to and from Bible Study on Wednesday
nights.
We've added ministries that are a blessing to the community and
our membership as well. We now have over 60 ministries that are
active in the church.
During the past years, we have had ministers, Deacons and Evangelist
Missionaries licensed as well as many Elders ordained.
Our Mass Choir has grown to over 100 voices and in 1999 choir
robes were purchased. We also provide counseling for married couples,
families and youth; clothing and food for the needy. We have an
active jail and prison ministry where the ministry members (go
"behind the walls") to reach the forgotten harvest of
inmates.
We do not limit God. God has blessed us to be motivated by his
spirit and not man's traditions. We are a soul winning church.
Our soul winning ministry, "The Crusaders," have won
thousands of souls in the last ten years.
The year of 2000 was a first of many Easter Resurrection Services
to be held in the Moreno Valley Community Park. Souls were saved
and many were added to the church.
In the year of 2001, God continued to bless and open doors for
us. We purchased an additional van, and two additional buses,
we were blessed to upgrade our office equipment and purchase additional
sound equipment.
The Pastor was lead by the Holy Spirit to have services on Saturday
for the unchurched. With this vision came the birth of our Saturday
Church.
The blessed and continual growth in our membership necessitated
the need for more space. The Lord directed our leaders to acquiring
additional space to be used for a children's church in order to
provide space for the adults and to eliminate overcrowded conditions
in the main Sanctuary.
The Lord blessed us in the release of our first CD entitled: "Radah,
Dominion in the Valley."
Moving right along to the year 2002, in addition to the Moreno
Valley location, we purchased a five acre, five building facility
in Perris, California; which will be utilized as the location
for our Friendship Christian Academy, our Community Youth Center,
Dream and Conference Center, as well as an additional place of
worship.
Friendship seeks to meet the needs of the diverse population of
Moreno Valley and the Inland Empire area, providing spiritual
guidance and growth for challenging times. We look to Jesus, the
author and finisher of our faith, for much more......
In closing, our Pastor has a vision of a church that will accommodate
the souls that we are harvesting. We are in the process of seeking
a location where we can build a new facility which will seat 3,000
souls for the kingdom.
Many thanks to you, the members of Friendship for your untiring
love, prayers, support and monetary gifts. Without such wonderful
team effort, our accomplishments would not have been possible..
This is the history and progress of the Christian Fellowship Church
of God in Christ. As we look to the future and continue to do
His work, we know that the Lord has even greater works for us
to perform and greater blessings for us to receive.
We ask that you continue to pray for us as we continue to build
upon the solid rock for we know that this is the Lord's doing
and it is marvelous in our eyes.
God bless each and every one of you.
To God be the glory.
